The Senior Manager, External Reporting, is responsible for reporting financial statements and related disclosures for Hanesbrands corporate external financial filings, Hanesbrands benefit plan external financial filings and supporting functions such as human resources, legal, and treasury in reporting and disclosure requirements. This person will perform technical accounting and reporting research regarding US GAAP and SEC reporting guidance/requirements that impacts their areas of responsibility, assist in implementation and draft changes to required disclosures as necessary. The role will consolidate and review documentation that supports our external financial filings (e.g. 10-K and 10-Q) and coordinate the review activities of our public financial filings with our external auditors. This person will be involved with corporate staff initiatives to ensure that the accounting implications of actions being considered are understood by the decision makers. The role will have direct responsibility for the preparation of some parts of our SEC reports, such as the financial statements and footnotes that include, among others, revenue, inventory, AOCI, derivatives, debt, earnings per share, goodwill, other intangible assets and segment reporting. This role will collaborate with senior finance management, Corporate Communications and Investor Relation departments to align, review and validate all external financial reporting (investor day materials, earnings call script, SEC reporting, etc).
Responsibilities
- Work on multiple financial projects simultaneously. Projects will almost all be time sensitive, so ability to schedule activities and work under pressure is required.
- Responsible for staying abreast of continuously changing complex accounting standards to ensure our financial reports and disclosures are in compliance with updated reporting requirements.
- Work with the external auditors on issues raised through Internal, External and Sarbanes Oxley audits. Work with finance management to modify controls to resolve audit recommendations in a timely manner.
- Work with Corporate Communications, Investor Relations and Legal closely related to our external filings and related public releases and statements. These documents must be closely linked during a very tight timeline in which Financial Reporting, Corporate Communications and Legal must act as essentially one team.
- Analyze financial results, KPI’s and trends to identify financial areas of concern. Work directly with finance management to investigate concerns and develop remedial action plans.
- Responsible for XBRL tagging and reporting with quarterly and annual financial filings.
- Responsibilities during month-end close include assisting, preparation and/or review of various reporting areas including: income statement, balance sheet and cash flow statement preparation and various internal management reporting deliverables.
Minimum Education/ Experience
Bachelor's degree with 10+ years relevant work experience OR Master's 8+ years relevant work experience OR Doctorate 6+ years experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree.
Preferred Education/ Experience
CPA Required.
Preferred Certifications
MS/MBA preferred.
Specific Skills or Experience Required
- BS/BA in Accounting or Business related field required.
- 10 years of increasing responsibility in financial reporting and accounting.
- Strong technical skills and past experience of US GAAP and SEC reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and Hyperion desired.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with finance management and other business leaders.
- Team player with developed interpersonal, communication (written, oral, and presentation), negotiating and leadership skills .
- Good conceptual, critical thinking, analytical, quantitative skills and the ability to problem solve.
- Must be able to work independently
