Responsibilities
*This role may be located in our Design Center NYC or in our Corporate Headquarters location in Winston-Salem, NC
• Work closely with the Director to ensure any business-critical/hot topics are raised in a timely manner.
• Create and deliver brand-right designs that tie back to the overall concept and business strategy, encompassing style, color/print, fit, and fabric for new and existing styles.
• Design and create sketches and specs with detailed technical information, including front and back sketches, construction details, illustrations, material, and trims.
• Research and interpret men’s underwear trends and consumer needs that uphold the integrity of the brand; conduct ongoing competitor research/trend analysis.
• Ensure garment consistency across product collections and categories; analyze and communicate risk during the development cycle; continuously seek to drive product improvements to ensure best-in-class fit, comfort, and performance with the goal of consistently exciting our customers and exceeding wearing expectations.
• Collaborate and communicate with key partners throughout the design process, including Merchandising, Product Management, Suppliers, Materials Team, and HQ and Asia PD.
• Communicate visions and concepts clearly, confidently, and strategically to all stakeholders.
• Create style boards for the area of responsibility, showing silhouette and color, fabric, print/pattern options.
• Lead fit sessions on live models and communicate fit/construction corrections to vendors/regional tech designers via written instructions, flat and on-body measurements, patterns, and digital images to ensure proper fit and brand integrity. • Exhibit excellent communication and presentation skills that can present and sell to all levels internally and externally, communicating a clear and inspiring vision.
• Demonstrate proven success in identifying trends, colors, and silhouettes and forecasting current and future states to accurately lead in men’s underwear.
• Proactively initiate “Blue Sky” developments that drive innovation and address white space as incremental opportunities.
• Command the development cycle and related calendar timelines, keeping the team focused and meeting all deadlines.
• Manage a team of designers and artists responsible for the creative and technical development to create compelling, brand-enhancing products adhering to profitability goals.
• Oversee all product design from concept through market adoption.
• Work with vendors on fabrics, trims, and developments.
• Oversee fit sessions; identify and resolve quality and technical issues.
• Demonstrate strong communication, attention to detail, timeline management, and organizational skills.
• Exhibit aptitude for working independently and in conjunction with the team.
• Respond quickly and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment; be flexible and able to manage change.
• Interface with factories and their development teams to deliver prototypes specific to concept projects.
Minimum Education/ Experience
Bachelor's degree with 10+ years relevant work experience OR Master's 8+ years relevant work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree.
Specific Skills or Experience Required
• BS/BA Degree required or AA Fashion Degree.
• 10+ years in the industry required, with a minimum of 5 years of management experience.
• Experience in men’s underwear and/or apparel.
• Comprehensive understanding of garment construction and textile sciences.
• Extensive knowledge of fabrics, trims, and their performance in garment form.
• Proficient financial skills related to garment cost and profitability targets.
• Fit expertise in men’s innerwear or related categories.
• Strong verbal, public speaking, and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate complex and/or controversial concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
• Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing, high-growth environment.
• Self-starter who brings a level of passion, enthusiasm, and focus to their day-to-day business and can multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Keep current on consumer insights; participate in research projects and focus groups.

• Proficient in both Mac/PC; Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat), Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint); 3D design experience is a plus
