As the Senior, Designer, you will play a key role in contributing to and executing the Hanes Seasonal Creative Direction. The successful candidate will be a highly creative and collaborative problem solver, with experience designing quality Loungewear, Casualwear and Activewear. As part of a dynamic design team, each season you will bring to life the category’s seasonal assortment maintaining and building key programs based on seasonal concepts, color and print trends. You will liaise cross[1]functionally with internal teams and with factory and vendor partners in the design development process to ensure products are developed in line with our seasonal strategy and to our high quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to overall trend and design direction for each season, across Womens and Mens with extensive brand relevant trend research.
- Participate in regular store visits gathering market and consumer research to support seasonal and future big ideas.
- Propose new designs for seasonal collections backed by trend research, sketches, and material proposals.
- Identify fabrics and yarns that are within budget guidelines (line plans) to develop into product.
- Collaborate with local and off-shore operating partners to source materials, manage lead-time, minimum order requirements, and costing constraints.
- Identify colors and prints for the season and apply to ranges across channels.
- Create and present inspiring product range presentations with color palettes and development samples to design leads and product management teams.
- Complete all design sketches and Technical Data Documents. Maintain Tech packs and BOMs in PLM.
- Communicate fit and construction details to Technical Design department.
- Collaborate with direct report (Senior Designer), product development team and product merchant team in weekly meetings.
- Participate in fittings, take notes, and make revisions based on fitting results.
- Manage Design samples for all relevant product each season.
- Obsessively live in the detail of our ranges and maintain efficient process and organizing methods.
- Seasonally files and organizes design folders inclusive of seasonal trend research, Range development documents, artwork, sketches, and CADS.
Minimum Education/ Experience
Bachelor's degree with 5+ years relevant work experience OR Master's + 3+ relevant work experience; 4+ years of equivalent work experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree.
Specific Skills or Experience Required
- Must have min of 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Ability to research and report on industry trends, color trends, and fabric innovations approximately 9-12 months ahead of season and understand their impact to fashion.
- Strong communication, organizational and presentation skills - inspiring and clear communication to interact with designers, technical teams, vendors, merchants and other cross functional team members.
- Strong time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple tasks, respond quickly to projects and complete them within deadlines.
- Ability to receive design critique and respond with multiple solutions.
- Foster teamwork / cohesiveness across functional teams.
- Ability to illustrate designs and concepts in both hand-sketched and computer rendered formats. Experience with 3D Design a bonus.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Apparel construction, including yardage and placement prints, dying, washing techniques and other treatments.
- Excellent computer skills: Adobe Creative Suite - Illustrator, Photoshop, In Design; Microsoft Office 360 - Word, Excel etc.

- Proficiency in Design Software: Expertise in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and PLM systems for creating and managing design elements.
- CAD Skills: Ability to create and maintain CAD work for style development and line sheets.
- Textile and Fabric Knowledge: Understanding of fabric, lace, and other materials to support design and development processes.
- PLM System Management: Competence in initiating and updating PLM tech packs, BOM data entry, and managing style creation.
- Tracking and Documentation: Setting up and maintaining tracking spreadsheets for prototypes, SMS, and sourced materials.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective communication with design team members, merchandising teams, and overseas vendors to ensure smooth project management.
- Material Development Tracking: Monitoring the development of sourced materials like fabric, elastics, lace, and trims.
- Mentorship: Mentoring assistant designers and interns, providing guidance and support.
- Textile/Garment Construction: Assisting in the development of textiles and garment construction, showcasing creativity and innovation
