Supervisor-in-Training
Job Function/Purpose: Under the direct supervision of a shift/area supervisor or a specifically assigned management team member assigned to mentor this role, this position will
- Supervise assigned area and assure productivity goals for the shift area achieved
- Support assigned team members through ongoing training
- Contribute to the development of new processes throughout the facility for better process efficiency
- Assure safety expectations are understood and adhered to by all assigned team members and participate in Safety committee meetings and/or audits as requested.
- Develop strong foundational understanding of GPS, 5S, and Lean initiatives and implement strategies for integration into the assigned workplace
- Develop a working knowledge of process and document control for assigned area and assure processes and controls are achieved and maintained
- Develop and communicate team staffing assignments and schedules
- In conjunction with assigned mentor and/or HR representative, receive and/or investigate employee issues. The supervisor-in-training will take no programmatic nor employee actions without securing guidance from the facility HR Manager and/or affected employee’s direct Manager.
- Actively participates on Committees as assigned
- Identifies and achieves milestones of a personal management development plan as created by assigned mentor and the facility HR leader
Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities (could include the following; other duties may be assigned)
- Studies production/distribution processes and creates training documentation and programs to reinforce and/or enhance these processes when needed
- Monitors, records, and reports the success of training programs
- Analyzes and resolves work problems.
- Interprets Company policies and enforces safety regulations
- Plans and assigns work for subordinates
- Conduct training for exempt non-exempt and hourly employees
- Participates in GPS, Lean, and Safety program planning and achievement
- In conjunction with HR leader, counsels employees and documents as appropriate at the various levels of disciplinary process
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required;
- Associate’s Degree from two-year college or technical school preferred but no required.
- Must have working knowledge of general facility operations
- Prior experience in a lead in a manufacturing/distribution environment helpful but is not required
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point experience helpful but not required
- Must be currently employed in HBI distribution or manufacturing facility
- Must be able to comply with attendance/presenteeism expectations
