We are seeking to hire a Tax Manager who will report to the Director, Tax Compliance. This position will support the Hanesbrands global tax team with various tax matters, but will primarily be responsible for managing all indirect taxes including sales and use tax, property tax, value added tax, business licenses and unclaimed property. The manager will assist in developing processes around tax administration and advising Hanesbrands on sales and use, and property tax impacts of proposed business initiatives. The Tax Manager will manage tax special projects, which will include internal research and analysis on a variety of complex state and local direct and indirect tax issues in areas of tax law. The manager will also assist other Hanesbrands tax team members on global income tax provision tasks and tax compliance tasks both US and international.This position will support the Hanesbrands global tax team with various tax matters, but will primarily be responsible for managing all indirect taxes including sales and use tax, property tax, value added tax, business licenses and unclaimed property. 

Responsibilities:

  1. Perform legal research and analysis on a variety of state/local indirect tax issues and draft memoranda.

  2. Review sales and use tax, property tax, business license applications, unclaimed property returns and census reporting forms, prepared by internal resources or third parties.

  3. Organize and provide timely replies to tax notices.

  4. Support team in state and local tax audits.

  5. Review and approve tax account reconciliations.

  6. Partner with business leaders, tax, finance, treasury, legal, IT, and external advisers on various business state and local tax questions and tax planning and compliance matters.

  7. Assist in the determination of sales/use and VAT tax consequences related to specific transactions (i.e. acquisitions, new locations)

  8. Coordinate with third party providers of outsource/co-source solutions in place for sales and use, property tax, VAT, unclaimed property reporting/audits.

  9. Supporting/managing Staff, Special Projects/Other duties as needed

Requirements:

  • Bachelor´s Degree
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience in a corporate tax department, public accounting and /or law firm
  • Strong knowledge of general direct and indirect state tax laws and concepts
  • Sales and use tax audit experience a plus
  • Strong computer knowledge (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Experience with Vertex and SAP preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong accounting skils
  • Proficient in Spanish and English
